Turning 30 is a milestone birthday for anyone but Hastings resident Vicky Walker decided that she wanted to make her even more memorable by taking on thirty challenges and raising a pile of cash for charity.
Vicky, born on December 29, 1985, says she wanted to make her entire thirtieth year special. “For my 30th birthday, instead of a big party, I wanted to do something more memorable,” she said. “I decided that I would do a years worth of fundraising for two great charities; RSPCA and HelpforHeroes as I think the work they do is amazing.”
Vicky came up with the idea that she would do 30 challenges throughout the year. “They would either be ones from my own wish list or ones proposed by my friends and family. This was the start of my 30for30 challenge!”

To date Vicky’s raised around £400 for her chosen charities and her ‘challenges’ have been imaginative and varied including a dip in the sea on New Year’s Day, running Hastings half marathon, been hypnotised, completed 5k on a child’s scooter dressed as Wonder Woman, ran up and down East hill steps ten times in a weighted vest and space hopped round Alexandra park! “Some of my challenges are silly and fun while others are hard and require training but I have loved doing each one.”
Next up is Vicky’s attempt at making it into the Guinness World Records by breaking the record of doing the fastest 100m on a space hopper and creating a new one of the most Burpees completed in one minute wearing high heels.
These latest challenges will take place at William Parker Sports Track on Friday July 29, between 6-8pm.
Vicky added: “I don’t know if I will be successful but I will give it a darn good try!”
